Issue 109: Are you using the Compound Principle for lasting results?
“The Compound Effect is the principle of reaping huge rewards from a series of small, smart choices.”
- Darren Hardy
Have you ever considered how perspectives determine whether we stay stuck or grow?
A Facebook colleague posted, "In 2023, I'm going to be the best version of me!" You can imagine the range of comments. However, I noticed that most comments fell into the category: You don't need to change.
Taking the unpopular approach, I wrote: "I get this. I'm always asking how I can be one percent better in (fill in the blank). How can I grow? What small steps can I take to move forward." Sometimes, the minor actions are related to my business or professional development. Other times, they’re related to my personal life."
In addition to my post that went against the tide, one person said, "And so it is!" Think about it. These four words put it out there that it will come true. It reminded me of Henry Ford's famous quote, "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right." Ford emphasizes attitude determines our growth, success, and future.
When you make small, steady steps, you’re applying the Compound Principle, which can get you out of the status quo. Taking minor, consistent actions or changes over time will lead you to significant results. The Compound Principle keeps you from becoming stagnate.
Change is inevitable.
If we don't grow, we don't change.
If we don't change, we stagnate.
To get started:
Identify specific areas that you want to improve, such as customer relations, sales, or creating valuable marketing materials.
Brainstorm ways you can improve this area. Then, consider the steps you will need to take so that you can benefit from the power of compounding.
Outline the consistent actions you can take daily.
Design a tracking system so that you can measure your progress.

Friday, the 13th turned out to be a lucky one, with three speaking engagements booked on this controversial day.
January became referral month, with five speaking engagements booked through client referrals. Woohoo.
New Program: I booked two virtual speaking engagements for Calm Challenging Customers. It’s a spinoff from an 8-week customized sales program I created for a building and construction client. I developed Calm Challenging Customers when I worked in Corporate America. Coworkers called me the "Clean-Up Crew" because I could calm angry clients.
Until next time, Power-Up, Play-Up™, and Bounce-Up™!

P.S. How will you use the Compound Principle in 2023?
