Issue 110: What Did You Say and What Did You Do?

“A year from now, you may wish you had started today.”

As we end the first quarter of 2023, let’s consider how far we’ve traveled since the pandemic hit three years ago.

The big question is, “Have you accomplished what you said you would three years ago?”

If you’re like me, I made several declarations of what I would do so I would never be in a position where my business relied on in-person events. One of my clients, a c-level executive with a billion-dollar manufacturing company, admitted he wished I had digital courses when he had to cancel my in-person communication workshops.

When the pandemic hit, one of my colleagues only lost five percent of her business. You might wonder how did she manage it? She had digital courses for every in-person keynote presentation and training program she offered. She presented her scheduled speaking engagements virtually with access to digital courses for a limited time. Then, without knowing it, she built a Plan B.

On the flip side, Jasmine Taylor lost her full-time job when the pandemic hit. Saddled with a mountain of debt, Jasmine started the “stuffing envelope” system. To keep herself accountable, she shared her budgeting journey on TikTok and gained a huge following. With her $1,200 stimulus money, she started Baddies and Budgets, offering online budgeting courses and products. Today, she’s on track to hit the million-dollar mark.

So here we are three years later. What changes did you want to make to safe proof your position, business or organization? Did I accomplish what I said I would three years ago? Yes and no. I had a laundry list of what I wanted to change and how I wanted to level-up my business. I tend to put too much on a to-do list. Does that happen to you?

A few goals I hit:

  • I created three digital courses.

  • I wrote and published three books.

  • I produced a coursebook for every training program, which has been my goal since starting my business. Sometimes, I need a push. 😊

  • I revamped my Bounce-Up keynote to have more fun with four audience interactions, which participants love. Imagine bubbles, an inflatable punching bag I call my sidekick Henry, and beach balls.

Bounce-Up Momentum Builders

  • What were the changes you wanted to make during 2020 and 2021? Write them down.

  • Have you accomplished them? Or have you made strides toward the goal? Give yourself kudos for your accomplishments. We’re cheering you on for the ones you want to achieve. Go you!

  • How have you grown personally and professionally during the past three years?

Mj Happenings

  • March was a lively month with two in-person presentations and nine virtual programs.

  • In April, I have three virtual programs, plus I’ll be in Orlando to give a Bounce-Up training and in Raleigh to present Rev Up Your Revenue at the AANC Conference.

  • Three magazines interviewed me, and I’ll share those articles in the upcoming Bounce-Up™ Chronicles.

Until next time, Power-Up, Play-Up™, and Bounce-Up™!

Mj

P.S. Leave a comment and share what you have accomplished in the past three years! We'd love to hear it.
