Issue 020: Do You Go Left when Others Go Right?

“Don't give up. Normally it is the last key on the ring which opens the door.”
    – Paul Coelho

Happy September!

We often hear people reference the quote, “When one door closes, another opens.”  Do you wonder how many people believe it? You probably could guess that I do believe it. Granted, one needs to have an open mind, be open to possibilities, and act on the opportunity. Though a door could be open, it’s taking the step to go through it to see what waits on the other side of it that makes a difference.

Micheal Edmonds didn’t walk through the open door—he ran through it. Micheal was all set to start a new position as a flight attendant. When the health and economic crisis occurred, his employer eliminated his position.

Not one to allow a setback to stop him, in May 2020, Micheal opened Gulf Shores Nutrition, a smoothie and juice bar. At the age of 24, he’s very targeted with his business. With a focus on fast food for health-oriented people and only a short distance from the beach, customers can find meal replacement shakes, loaded teas, and fat-reducing hunger control shots that taste like donut holes. Yum. Taking advantage of the beach scene, Micheal draws in locals and tourists with his signature drinks named Beach Daze and Wave Runner.

Here’s how Micheal bounced-up™.

  1. Micheal flipped his negative situation into a positive one. He didn’t sit by and wait for something to happen. He took action.

  2. He knew his target audience and approach. He had one goal. He provided healthy fast food that beachgoers and locals could take on the go.

  3. He found a business he believes in and a product he loves, which enables him to enthusiastically promote a healthy, active lifestyle.

Momentum Questions:

  1. Would you say you tend to be reactive or proactive in a situation?

  2. How quickly do you jump into solution-based action after a setback?

  3. What would it take for you to start a business during an economic crisis?

Until next time, have a Bounce-Up™ week.
